In-vitro Fertilization
In-vitro fertilization helps stimulating the ovaries through diverse medicines (Gonal-F, Puregon, Menopur, Fostimon). The goal of stimulating the ovaries is to obtain ovaries as much as possible to create embryos. Intrauterine placement of many embryos (embryo transfer) has been proved to increase the chance of pregnancy (if one embryo is placed, pregnancy rate is around 30% and if three embryos are placed, pregnancy rate is around 40-50%). However, increasing the number of transferred embryos also increase the risk of multiple gestation. Therefore, women under 35 years are transferred 1 embryo while over 35 are transferred 2 embryos pursuant to the regulations in our country.
